Assignment Task:
Download from Blackboard the journal article which presents the evaluation design for “Kids Go For Your Life”, De Silva-Sanigorksi et al (2010) and answer the following review questions.
- What is the overall aim of the Kids Go-For -Your Life program and the key underlining strategy used to achieve this aim?
- What is a judgement orientated question and an improvement orientated question? With respect to the 4 aims of the evaluation design described in this article identify whether they are judgement or improvement orientated questions.
- Define the terms ‘inputs’ and ‘outputs ’. Provide an example of one ‘input’ and one ‘output’ to be measured in the Kids Go-For -Your Life program.
- When determining the evaluation design a number of factors were taken into consideration. Why do you think it was important that these areas where considered?
- The socio-ecological framework guided the evaluation design. Why do you think the researchers used this framework to inform the design of this evaluation?
- What did the environmental questionnaire used in the pre-school and early childhood involve and how did it relate to the framework adopted for the evaluation?
- Open-ended question data was proposed to be used as part of the research design. Do you think it was appropriate to use open-ended questions? Explain your response.
- Who are the key stakeholders? How have stakeholders been involved in this evaluation? What are the key reasons for involving stakeholders in an evaluation?
- Why is it necessary to obtain ethics approval for this evaluation?
- What are the strengths and limitations of this evaluation?
