Assignment 1—Due Sunday 26thth March to Turnitin by 6pm
All assignments must use the Assignment cover sheet (available from the SAIBT Student Portal)—whether submitted electronically or in hard copy.
To pass the course you must satisfactorily complete its assessment requirements. Achievement of a pass in the course will be secured by obtaining 50 marks overall. Details of assessment submission and return are listed under each assessment task.
Re-marking and re-submission are not permitted except for Assignment 1 If you get a Fail 1 result in Assignment 1 you can resubmit to your lecturer and may get a Pass 2 result capped at 50%.

It requires you to collect information from multiple sources and use it to develop and support an argument (in the form of an essay). Task Description In this assignment, you will consider a statement about work, research information which relates to it, and discuss the statement, supporting the discussion with information from research. The assignment will be in the form of a short essay of 500 words.

You need to develop and support your argument using multiple sources of information. These sources should include: 1. Textbook (some of the relevant chapters are chapters 1 – 5. But you can go beyond the suggested chapters). And any two of the following sources: 2. Academic journal articles 3. Art/Film/TV/Newspapers 4. Books – other than the textbook Note; You must use three different sources. One source MUST be the textbook then two other sources from the ones identified above.
How to go about it? 1. Read the statement in the context of the relevant chapters of the textbook. 2. Make notes about your views on this topic. 3. Select any two of the additional sources listed above – to consider and evaluate different views on the topic. 4. Discuss these ideas in a short essay of 500 words.

Submission instructions Submit your assignment 1 through the Moodle site available on course site under assessments heading. Use word format.
Feedback Feedback will be given within two weeks of the submission date. Complete the ‘rubrics’ at the bottom of the Feedback form available on the course site,, indicating your self-evaluation of the assignment against the criteria. Include the Feedback form in Word format at the end of the assignment. Feedback forms are provided on the course site. For assessment criteria refer to the Feedback sheet on course site. Due date The completed assignment is due on 26th March to Turnitin online submission 2017 by 6pm to Course Moodle site.
