4.1. Sensitivity and specificity
see this video about RDT for malaria. Then read the attached paper on the performance of the test and comment about its sensitivity and specificity in relation to patient complaints regarding the test being used to channel treatment away from those who need it.

4.2. Sensitivity and specificity examples
Give an example of a test in your area of experience and how you would interpret its results given the reported sensitivity and specificity of this test. Please note that the test need not be limited to diagnosis of disease. For example, a test to categorize a person as low versus high socioeconomic status is equally valid if there is data on sensitivity and specificity.
4.3. PPV and NPV
From the same attached paper, comment on the factors that influence PPV and NPV as well as its implications in terms of patient complaints about the test being used to channel treatment away from those who need it.

4.4. Likelihood ratio
4.4. A) Assuming a 10% prevalence of malaria in those referred for testing, compute likelihood ratios from the results in the paper for a positive and negative test respectively and discuss your previous comments in light of the post-test probability of malaria.
4.4. B) If prevalence was 50% how would this affect post-test probability of the disease after RDT?

4.5. Screening tests
Watch this video and then comment on sequential testing in screening and what the problems are as seen in this case when screening for PKU.
