Spring 2017 – Take Home Exam
As many scholars and cultural critics have argued, the concept and presence of a “Canadian culture” is debatable. With current trends in government and the market questioning the role of Canadian content in cultural subsidies, the question of “Do we have a Canadian culture?” persists. Using scholarly sources, i.e., not the course textbook, argue whether Canada has a culture of its own.
This Take Home Exam is worth 30% of your final grade and is due June 1st via Brightspace, at 11:30PM. Your exam must adhere to the following criteria:
- No fewer than 1,500 but no more than 1,600 words.
- Typed, double-spaced, Arial, 12 point font size.
- Be sure to spell-check and proofread your essay.
- Identify, define, explain, and apply all concepts, theories, and constructs introduced in your paper; do not introduce anything that is not clearly explicated.
- Using APA or ASA style guidelines, cite and source at least five (5) scholarly texts (not including the textbook) but no more than ten (10) to support your arguments.
- Must include title page and bibliography.
- On title page, state word count of body text.
Failure to adhere to these guidelines will result in a deduction of your letter grade, i.e. B+ to B. Late papers will be deducted a letter grade each day they are late. The take home exam must be submitted to Brightspace; it cannot be submitted to the department or slid under the office door.
