Answer the questions pertaining to the scenario below. Consider the scenario below, taken from the movie, Dirty Harry, starring Clint Eastwood-
“Dirty Harry Callahan is an Inspector with the San Francisco Police Department- A 14-year-old girl has been kidnapped and is being held captive by a
psychopathic killer. The killer, Scorpio, has already stuck twice, killing a priest and a young black boy. He demands a $200,000 ransom to release the girl,
who is buried with just enough oxygen to keep her alive for a few hours- Harry gets the dirty job of delivering the ransom, and after enormous exertion, finally
meets Scorpio- At the meeting, Scorpio reneges on the bargain tries to kill Inspector Callahan- Harry manages to stab Scorpio in the leg, but not before
Scorpio seriously wounds Harry’s partner. Scorpio escapes, but Harry manages to track him down through the clinic where Scorpio was treated for the leg
wound Harry inflicted- Learning that Scorpio lives on the grounds of the SF 49er football stadium, Harry breaks into his apartment without a warrant because
there is little time to obtain one, finds the guns and other evidence connecting Scorpio to the killings, and manages to chase him down on the 50 yard line,
where Harry shoots him (with ‘the world’s most powerful handgun, a Colt -44 Magnum”) in the leg as he is trying to escape- With time for the girl running out,
Harry, standing over Scorpio, demands to know where the girl is buried- Scorpio refuses to disclose her location, demanding his rights to an attorney. Harry
then stands on the killer’s bullet mangled leg and manages to extract a confession of the girl’s location from him- As it turns out, by the time police locate the
body, based on Scorpio’s tortured confession, she is already dead- Moreover, the confession and the evidence from the warrantless search are not
admissible in court- Scorpio goes free-”
