Lex101 Assessment Task: Annotated Bibliography Instructions
Topic : LGBTI (topic that used for the law reform )
• A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, Web sites, journals, etc.) you have used for researching a topic. Bibliographies are sometimes called ‘References’ or ‘Works Cited’ depending on the style format. A bibliography usually includes only the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.). An annotation is a summary and/or critical evaluation of the source. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or critical evaluation of each of the sources.
• Based on your own independent research you must locate 3 Academic Sources that you will read and consider when preparing your Law Reform Research Paper. For example: journal articles, books, book chapters, and government or NGO reports relevant to the topic of your research paper.
• Present these 3 Academic Sources in an annotated bibliography whereby you list the sources in accordance with the Australian Guide to Legal Citation (AGLC) (3rd edition) and provide an annotation of around 250 words for each, that summaries and critically evaluates the source, explaining how it is relevant or useful to the topic of your research paper (as explained in the guide: How to prepare an annotated bibliography). Maximum total word count 800 words.
• Ensure your sources are academic. That is, they appear in published books, academic journals, or are published by government bodies, or comparable bodies, such as the United Nations, or the Human Rights Legal Centre (for example). Do not cite media sources (e.g. newspaper reports or YouTube stories) for this exercise. You need to ensure that you can summarise and critically evaluate each source in around 250 words (and no more than 250 words), so you should ensure that each source is substantial enough for you to provide this level of detail.
