Paper details:
The first speech you will give in this class is a 3-4 minute introduction and identity speech in which you are to introduce yourself to the class by discussing a person or event that has an impact on your life and shaped who you have become as an individual. This assignment should allow you to think about how and why you have become the person you are at present, and will allow you to share this information with your classmates.
Your speech should be well organized with an introduction (including an attention-getter and thesis), the body (including 3-5 well-developed main points with transitions), and a conclusion. A typed formal outline is due at the time of your presentation. When you speak, you should work from a key word outline which you have on 3×5 size note cards (not paper) so that you are not tempted to read your speech.
