Case Analysis                                                                 75 Marks

 

 

Read and thorough analyze the case:  Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise, Richard Ivey School of Business

 

 

Once you have a complete understanding of the case you are to present you analysis in the following manner.  You analysis should include five applications of concepts paradigms and frameworks that you have learned from the readings, forums and textbook.

 

• You will be graded on your knowledge of the definition this will be highlighted throughout your analysis. (5)
• The application in the case (5)
• Reference to any material presented by either myself or other classmates including extra readings, articles, discussions, videos, forums, etc. (5)

 

Here is an example:  One of the strengths in the case is the reliance on tourism.  Tourism is …there are many types of tourism such as…In the case we can identify two types of tourism…or…currently tourism is at this point… however they have the ability with…to move into….in our readings or in an article or in our research etc.  This example is to assist you to get started.

Here is an example:

 

Ok: Management is about planning and organizing.  David Bayes managed 30 people in the front of the house.

 

Better:  Management is a concept that can be defined in many ways such as the text book states “….” (p….) .  Or as in the article “….” Management is…..

In the case it David Bayne showed his skills in planning in the following…. However he was lacking in the organizing stage as depicted in…..

 

 

Some of the concepts you may consider include:

Tourism, Hospitality, Customer Service, Hotel Management, Event Management, Managed Services Marketing etc.  This is not an exhaustive list it is just to get you started.
