Your final essay will be based on Vadim Perelman’s The House of Sand and Fog. In this film, a tragic drama, adapted from Andre Dubus III’s novel, a house belonging to Kathy Nicollo (Lazaro) becomes a battleground for a legal and moral war between Kathy and Colonel Berhani. You will write an essay in which you examine the tragedy by considering the motives, actions and justifications of the two main characters in the film. You can, additionally, consider the roles that Colonel Berhani’s wife and son, and Kathy’s lover, Lester Burdon, play in the tragedy
