How to do an Annotated Bibliography: You should list all sources you use. You need to cite at least two
academic journal articles and three legal cases, but you may cite other, additional sources if you like.
Annotations just need to be a short paragraph for each citation – one or two sentences describing the article,
and one or two sentences saying how it is relevant or helpful to your analysis and why.Note: there is no need
for a separate reference page. You just need to list your citations, and include an annotation under each. See
for example:
Sample Annotated Bibliography
AICPA sets ethical standards for outsourcing. (2005). Journal of Accountancy.199(1). 8. Retrieved from
http://www.journalofaccountancy.com/
This article presents the new standards for outsourcing developed by the AICPA ethics committee. The
standards are summarized, and a brief discussion is included of the implications going forward for business
and international trade. The authors indicate that changes to the business community will be relatively minor.
This is a helpful source for getting an overview of the current ethics standards in outsourcing.
How to cite the Case APA: Since APA style doesn’t cover legal citations, please cite cases for your annotated
bibliography anyway you feel is appropriate, as long as you include the name of the case in italics (e.g.,
Twohey vs. ABC Co.), the Court that made the decision, and the year.
