1. Reid and Klumpp argue that studying “great exemplars” is an important way to learn about public speaking and “rhetoric as a performative art” (p. 6). Name one person–living or dead–who you consider to be a great speaker, and explain why you believe he or she is worth studying. Be sure to incorporate in your argument some of the key concepts from this week’s reading and lesson.
2. In your own words, how would you define “rhetoric?" How does your definition relate to or differ from the definitions of others discussed by Reid and Klumpp in this week’s reading? Additionally, what is the difference between “speech” and “rhetoric?"
