Topic:
About 10 years ago, you graduated with your degree in Criminology/Criminal Justice, and you eventually
become a police officer for department in your state. You eventually worked your way up within the
department and are now the chief of police. Crime has been relatively stable the last 5 years, and the number
of murders has varied between 95 and 110 for each of those five years. This most recent year, however, the
number of murders spiked to 149. The City Council and citizens in your city are looking to you for an
explanation for the increase, and more importantly, they want to know what you going to do to reduce violent
crime in your city. How would you respond to these queries? What steps would you take in the first 3 months
to address the increase in violent crime and specifically murders in your city?
