HN2210 – HR Planning
Concept Paper and Presentation
Winter 2018
20% of Final Grade
Overview:
This assignment requires research, analysis, and discussion of an organization operating in Qatar. Students will work in pairs to write a 2500 – 3000 word research paper about a Qatari company and its HR Planning (current and future strategy, planning, and practices). This company must employ at least 60 people. No duplication of companies is permitted.
Using the Workforce Planning Toolkit key questions (Parts 1, 2 & 3), students will interview an HR representative from their chosen company to gather information. Students will then organize this information into organization of (a) data analysis and discussion of current strategy and (b) planning practice and analysis, discussion of future planning.
Each member of the team is responsible for half the survey questions, half the written analysis and discussion, and half the presentation. Each individual student will receive their own grade based on their own half of the written paper and oral presentation.
NOTE: Each team will be required to present evidence of completing their company survey no later than January 25th. No late assignments will be accepted.
Required Formatting:
- Cover page – brief introduction
- Minimum 2500 words (1250 words per student) written research essay.
- Notes from the survey/questionnaire must be attached as appendices and do not count towards the required written essay word count.
- Citations must follow current APA standards
- Calibri, Times New Roman or Arial, 12 font
- Uploaded to D2L no later than February 8th (Thursday) at midnight – no late submissions will be accepted
Required Presentation Format:
- Minimum of 7 minutes, no longer than 10 minutes
- Uses PowerPoint, Prezi or a video (which includes both team members)
- Copy of the presentation to be turned in on USB or flash drive on the date of the presentation
- Marks will be deducted from YOUR presentation if you do not pay full attention, are noted using your phone, arrive late for the start of the class, or you leave the class for any reason.
- Students will earn 1 bonus mark if they ask a relevant question of the presenting team
- Your presentation will be done in class during the week of February 4th. There is a sign up sheet outside my office, first come first served.
