Big Data Analytics and Applications
You are expected to choose and critically explore a big data analytics and/or its application(s) recent research paper, for example based on existing (open) data re/sources, and case studies covered in the module academic delivery. This report will review the work covered in one research paper and critically assess it against maximum other 4-5 research papers of your choice.
Your report will comprise the following:
C1. Title (one line)
C2. Abstract (one paragraph 5-10 lines): the review should start with a summary paragraph that describes briefly the addressed problem and main challenges, and your critical review outcome.
C3. Introduction to the topic: data resource, analytics approach or application (a couple of paragraphs).
C4. The report structure (one short paragraph).
C5. Strong Points and Achievements (2-3 sentences): list 2-3 strong points that you see about the paper authors’ contributions and their proposed solution, e.g., why this work is novel, what is the most interesting idea behind the solution, does the paper have enough evaluation and performance measures. Critically evaluate the strength of these points using critical evaluation of similar work reported in other 4-5 papers.
C6. Weak Points (2-3 points): list 2-3 weak points that you think have not been addressed adequately, possible weaknesses, assumptions that are not practical, or extensions you think are good. Critically evaluate the strength of these points using critical evaluation of similar work reported in other 4-5 papers.
C7. Conclusions (one paragraph 5-10 lines).
C8. References
Must be Tableau software work is included by taking screenshots in each result and each step, also write brief explanation about it what you did and what this result represent.
I attached sample, so you can have general idea about it.
You may find also useful the following directions:
- What difficulties did you find regarding reproduction of the main research paper work? Provide reflections focused on technical, interpretational and functional issues.
- Discuss the results of the case studies and any interesting observations by comparing them with other published work (use journal papers, conference proceedings, books and online resources available preferably via the University’s Library resources). What did you observe?
- What conclusions could you deduce/induce from each result?
- Which analysis techniques were most helpful to evaluate, explore, or model?
- How did authors compare techniques?
- What techniques/activities could you see more used next (in future follow-up work) to continue this work?
