Briefing note assignment –
By the end of this exercise, students will be able to:
• Conduct and concisely summarize/synthesize research
• Prepare effective briefing notes
• Integrate the impact of social identity into analyses of community practices
Prepare an Informational Briefing Note (Info BN).
Prepare an Informational BN summarizing your issue and its connection to community using a minimum of seven (7) academic or scholarly books, articles, documentaries, movies based on true stories, investigative journalism, etc.
• Do NOT use blogs or opinion-based work.
• Do NOT just summarize the articles. Synthesize and integrate your thoughts into discussions under the appropriate headings within your BN.
• Do NOT prepare options or make recommendations in this part of the assignment. This is an Info BN only and is purely research focused. From an academic & scholarly perspective, what is the current status of your issue?
• Include a discussion of how your issue addresses and/or is impacted by marginalization, oppression, racialization and/or intersectionality (mandatory). A BN that does not discuss the potential impacts of marginalization, colonization, oppression, racialization and/or intersectionality will receive a 50% penalty. (PLEASE MAKE SURE TO INCLUDE THIS)
