2. Describe a typical conventional budgeting process in a global context
3. Detail the types of budgeting available e.g. zero-based, activity-based etc.
4. Describe the beyond budgeting model
5. Explain the behavioural aspects of budgeting
Assignment 1
A) You are a consultant and it is your role to advise a global client on the scope of budgeting and best practice available to their organisation from a strategic perspective for the whole organisation. The client first wants to understand the purpose of any budget.
B) The client wants to fully appreciate how conventional budgeting works as this is their current methodology with annual planning and monthly feedback and variance analysis.
C) The client has heard there are some more modern and strategic methods of budgeting – explain these to the client.
D) The client has heard the term ‘beyond budgeting’ and wants to be clear how this works.
E) The client knows that budgeting results in particular types of behaviour amongst managers and wants some detail also in this area.
