It has been argued that the purchasing function is not strategically important in enabling organisations to gain competitive advantage.”
Through the mode of reflective writing, your task is to consider the strategic role of purchasing in an organisation and decide whether it is strategically important or not.
What is reflective writing?
In an academic context reflective thinking involves;
1.Looking back at something…..in this case you are examining the idea of purchasing as a strategic function / process.
2.Analysing the idea with reference to a model or theory from the subject.
3.Thinking carefully about what this means for you and your ongoing development as a purchasing professional.
In an academic context, reflective writing is usually structured thus;
1.Description of idea / event. This is where you state your position regarding the task, and perhaps give a rationale for your stance. (Keep this bit short). This section is usually stated in the present tense.
2.Interpretation. What is most useful / relevant / interesting about the idea? How can it be explained with theory?
3.Outcome. What does this mean for my future as a professional?
