The purpose of this assessment is to read Chater’s article and discuss the ethical dilemmas arising within the following case study. It is a busy day shift and you have a new admission to the ward for insertion of an inter-medullary nail to the right femur. Ming Chang is an 83 year old Chinese women who has been admitted with a 2 year history carcinoma of the breast that was diagnosed last week as having metastasises to her bone and cerebral cortex. Her prognosis is poor. Her daughter informs you that the family have kept the news of the spread of the cancer from her mum and asks you to do the same.
