Argument
Think of a problem or issue in your future career field, in current events, in local or national government. What would you propose to help solve or improve an issue within one of these areas? (You may refer to the suggested/pre-approved critical thinking topics that have been posted under the Unit 3 module online.) Are there current laws that are restricting an improvement from taking place? Would legislation need to be introduced in order for changes to occur? Are there any legal cases you could summarize as examples and supporting evidence? Would there be any exceptions? What are the contradictions/oppositions that exist for your topic?. Your thesis statement should be bolded within your introduction and take a side that you will prove in your essay. Conduct pre-research prior to writing your thesis statement. Argue both sides of the issue, (pro/con) then draw your own conclusion based on taking all of the facts into consideration.
All essays must follow MLA formatting. Use 5-7 credible sources for your research. At least 2 of your sources should come from books that relate to your topic, and at least 2 of your sources should come from online library resources and scholarly articles. The length must be 5-6 pages; in addition, you will need a Works Cited page. Thesis statements are not questions, although questions and pre-research will help guide you to write a strong thesis claim, including 3-5 main points that you will explore using a pro/con argument.
