Objectives and Instruction:
-The objectives of Paper#1 are two-fold:1. To experience a variety of art objects from China, Japan and korean in Person, on your field trip to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York; 2. To develop skills of analyzing and describing artworks through hands-on studies of objects.
-The goal here is to write a vivid description of the artwork that enables your readers who has never seen it to accurately visualize it.
The letter can be written either between:
-You and a person whom you actually know (e.g.your letter to your family or friend)
-two fictive characters of your creation
-two pre-existing fictive characters( e.g. a letter from Dr.Watson to Sherlock Holmes)
The setting where you/ the writer of the letter saw the artworks does not need to be the Metropolitan Museum of Art: you can creat a fictive environment if you wish.
The paper does not need to follow te organization of an academic essay, commonly consisting of introduction, body, and conclusion. Instead, the inclusion of typical components of a letter (date and location, salutation, closing, etc.) is expected.
Requirements:
-Your paper should be based on your visit to the Asian art collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and onsite examination of the artworks chosen from the list;
-2 full page in length (excluding information that should appear on the cover page); typed in Times New Roman or other stands fonts, double-spaced, 1-inch margins on 4 sides, with no larger space between paragraphs.
