Individual Coursework – Financial Technology
Description
You are planning to launch a FinTech startup. Your idea is well-set already. The next step is to
write down the algorithm and pseudocode of your product. Otherwise, it is not easy to find
the right company to outsource the coding.
Then, one night, you realize that you need to practice what you learnt in Financial Technology
and Frontier Programming class. You search FinTech applications on the digital distribution
service of your phone. You pick one of the available applications. Then you start to write down
a sample report on this application with algorithm and pseudocode. There are some
conditions for this report:
There are only three distribution channels are accepted: Google Play Store/ Apple App
Store/ Windows App Store
The white-paper of the application should be available online.
You are not allowed to use following applications: Revolut, Transferwise (Wise), N26,
Monzo.
This report is the individual coursework.
Format
Individual coursework should include the following parts.
I. Introduction: Explain the basic facts about the application such as the number of
users, launch date, market capitalization, origin country, and more. Then, explain
your opinion about the application such as the added value, the target market,
competitors. (at most 2-pages)
II. Screenshots from the App: You need to go down each building blocks and take a
screenshot, put it here.
For example, in Revolut, there is one main screen and one account screen. The
main screen has 5 tabs: Revolut, Wealth, Payments, Rewards, Marketplace. Each
tab has 4 sub-tabs. For example, the Wealth screen has 4 tabs: Stocks, Crypto,
Commodities, Vaults. You need to take a screenshot of each tab and write down
what they do.
III. Algorithm for the App: Write down algorithms for finance-related operations only.
For example, you should not write down the algorithm for privacy settings,
notification settings, home settings, login page.
IV. Pseudocode for the App: Re-write algorithms in pseudocode.
Grade Breakdown
Introduction + Screenshots from the App: 10 points
Algorithm for the App and its consistency with the App: 45 points
Pseudocode for the App and its consistency with the Algorithm: 45 points
Deadline and Grading
Each student needs to complete the individual exercise by 5 pm on April 30.
Each student is required to upload the individual exercise to the dedicated K2 area.
This work corresponds to %60 of your final grade.
