MS Project Assignment
You are going to use Microsoft Project to create a basic project schedule. The assignment is to use MS Project to help plan and schedule one of your other classes from spring term – do not use this class for the assignment! I recommend creating a work breakdown structure first and using that to enter the tasks, but you do not need to submit a WBS.
Objectives: • Learn to create a new project in MS Project • Become familiar with basic MS Project functionality • Create tasks, subtasks, and use different properties
General Requirements 1. You must use MS Project for this assignment. If not done in MS Project it will not be graded 2. Your name and class name must be included in the file name, e.g. Doug Titus-MAN4583.mpp 3. The project schedule will be one semester long and you will use the dates for the term you chose
Specific Requirements 4. Adjust project settings to set the project start date. The start date should be one week before the term (Spring 2020 dates would be 12/30–5/1). Changing the project start date means if a new task is added it will automatically use the project start date rather than the current date or the date you first created it in MS Project. 5. For duration you can use the default setting of days but can use something else if you want 6. Set at least half of the tasks to automatic scheduling (but it can be all if desired) 7. You must have at least three different kinds of summary tasks but can use as many as needed 8. It must have a total of at least 15 and no more than 30 tasks (not including summary tasks) 9. All tasks and sub-tasks must be indented appropriately 10. Assign all tasks specific start and finish dates according to their due date 11. Set predecessors for at least two tasks 12. Set all exams date(s) as a fixed constraint type “must start on date”, task must be set to automatic scheduling and not manual for this option 13. Enable outline numbers 14. Add yourself and at least two other people to the resource sheet 15. Assign a resource to each task and each resource must be assigned at least once 16. Add at least one milestone
