Music is always changing. America’s music reflects it’s own identity. “For over two hundred years, American music has served as evidence of ethnicity, regionalism, economic status, and religious beliefs.” Could you imagine a time when only men composed, studied, and performed music? It’s understandable that times have changed. It is inevitable for inequality to exist in the musical world due to our history. Despite the significant male roles in music making, women have and still hold important roles as well.
