Week 6 Report Instructions
Please refer to this Instructions doc for step-by-step instruction, but complete the assignment on the other Week 6 Report doc. Thanks!
For the report this week you’ll draw from Ch 14 of the text and examineyou own personal experience working witha quality program/initiative.Think of an example from your home, work,or an organization you are involved with (ie church, your kid’s school), or your personal life where a quality management or quality improvement program did not exist so one was created and then implemented. Your example could also be where there was a quality program but it was not working very well so it was redesigned and implemented. Your example can be something quite simple, and it does not need to be health-care related.
Please follow the formatting I have outlined below. I use a template for grading which itemizes pts for each step below.
Formatting your Report:
- Introduction:
- Continuous Improvement Process Model Overview: Very briefly describe what the Continuous Improvement Process Model is. Explain the difference between this and traditional quality improvement.
- Very simply –identify and very briefly describe the main components (don’t copy from the text—translate so you are describing it using your own way of looking at it!)
I have a huge favor to ask: For this #1 Introduction section put the text aside when you draft this part of the assignment. Explain it super clearly as if you are talking to a 6th grader. If you have the main drift of what happens in this phase I’ll give full credit—so explain it the way YOU understand it, using your own perspective. So no looking at the text when you do this part!!
2.Quality Management or Quality Improvement Example. Note: This may not have been called a quality program—but pick an example where the gist of the initiative or program was quality management or quality imrpovement:
- Background: Provide the background or context for your example. Here are some things to include:
- Is this from your personal life or from your work?
- What were the factors that precipitated or contributed to the need for a quality management or quality improvementinitiative?
- Was this a change or modification of existing program/initiative or the creation of a new one? (this is important to include)
- Quality Management or Quality Improvement Program/Initiative: Describe the program/initiative. (Identify if it was a quality management or improvement type of program) Drawing from what you learned in Ch 14 in the text, what were the components?
- Results: Once the program/initiative was implemented were the results what was expected and aimed for? Were any modifications made?
- Most important part of the assignment:Compare your quality management or quality improvement example tothe Continuous Improvement Process Model. Use your explanation from #1 above to draw from (I like simple!!!).
- Could a Continuous Improvement Process Model have been used for the program/initiative rather than a simpler quality management or quality improvement? (why or why not?). If you did convert your program/initiative to a Continuous Improvement Process Model, what would you need to modify or add? What would have been the added value?
- Wrap Up:
How long did you spend on this assignment? How did it go for you? Did exploring a real life example help you “digest” what happens in policy implementation, or did you have a hard time relating the material we learned this week into a real life example? I look forward to hearing your thoughts/experience!
