Next, watch this brief documentary on Robert Moses and his plan to slice New York City with superhighways. Jane Jacobs, a city scholar, took center stage of the fight against Moses. When viewing this video keep in mind that Moses is a celebrated man for his city planning designs and preservation attempts. He is also hated (think to the Native American section and the article you read from News from Indian Country).

1. What does the video discuss? How are these issues of urban planning connected to Long Island? How are they reflective of the planned parks movements and environmental concerns with suburbs?
Hint: Think of driving 347 ANY time of day. I shudder.
2. Using the readings and our discussion of parks and environmental literature discuss the use of space and how it changes. More so, what do these changes mean to a community and the people who interact with it. How do they relate to property values?
Hint: Begin to make connections to previous themes and discussions.
350 to 500 words. 100 points.
3. Here is another fun assignment.
Long Island is host to a plethora of parks (green and/or sandy).
Your assignment this week is to go spend a few hours at a park. Describe the scenery. Describe the weather. The colors. Now . . . where is this park? Who is it named after? Now you need to quickly see why this person is important and so forth.
