Thesis: Smoking is damaging the world’s society and is responsible for early death from smoking as well as second hand smoke.
I. Those affected by second-hand smoke
A. Babies
1. More than 40% of babies who visit the emergency room for severe asthma attacks live with smokers.
B. Teens
1. Between 150,000 and 300,000 children under the age of 18 months get respiratory infections from secondhand smoke; 7,500 to 15,000 of them must be hospitalized all around the world.
C. Adults
1. Bad impression of smokers
II. The effect second-hand smoke has on people
A. Lung Cancer
1. Nonsmokers increase their risk of developing lung cancer from 20% to 30%
B. Heart disease
1. Increased from 25% to 30%.
C. Nasal Cancer
1. Tobacco smoke contains more than 4,000 different chemical compounds, more than 50 of which are known to cause cancer.
III. Solutions. What can society do?
