High School Scholarships: Sparta College
The High School Scholarship program is intended to recognize motivated high school seniors and to encourage their pursuit of advanced career-focused higher education in the field of their choice.
There are two (2) high school scholarship categories:
• President’s Scholarship The award amount includes full tuition, fees and books. There is two (2) available.
• Program (AET/A&P/HVAC) Scholarships The award amount is $5,000 for an associate degree programs and $2,500 for a diploma program. There is one (1) of each scholarship per program totaling four (4).
Terms and Conditions
• Must be enrolled in a Spartan College degree or diploma program (certificate programs, employee waivers, and students obtaining 80% or greater military benefits are not eligible).
• Must be enrolled and start in a Spartan College degree or diploma program during the 2018 school year.
• Current employee waivers and online programs are not eligible.
• Must meet all college admissions requirements to Spartan College as outlined in the current college catalog.
Scholarship and Application Requirements
1. Scholarship Application—Completed and signed by student.
2. Transcripts— President Scholarship requires GPA of 3.0 or higher, Program Scholarship requires GPA of 2.7 or higher
3. A 250-Word Personal Essay— Must be submitted legibly and written in ink or typewritten by the applicant, explaining the reasons for pursuing career-focused higher education in his/her program of choice at Spartan College.
4. Letter of Recommendation—From an educator, community leader or the student’s employer. The letter must be typed or written in ink on school or company letterhead and must display the name, address, phone number and email address of the person making the recommendation.
5. Orientation—Student will be required to attend the new student campus orientation.
Scholarship Application Submission Procedure
• All materials and supplementary documents must be submitted together, sent via email
with all documents attached.
• Incomplete application packets will not be accepted.
• All scholarship documents must be submitted and received by the scholarship
committee on or before deadline.
• The scholarship committee will be required to score and evaluate each scholarship
application received.
• All applications submitted will be retained and filed within the campus financial
department.
• Campus scholarship committee will include and minimum of three (3) campus officials
(Director of Operations, Student Services Advisor/Representative, Academic
Advisor/Representative, and Campus President)

Spartan Scholarship Distribution
• Student must complete at least 60 percent of the term of study.
• Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher for each term prior to disbursement and be in good academic
standing.
• If a student withdraws after the 60% timeframe, he/she will receive a pro-rated amount of the
scholarship based on the percentage of tuition charged pursuant to the refund policy outlined
in the college catalog. Disbursement
• Preparation for Success Scholarship; funds will be distributed in equal disbursements for each
term within the program, not to exceed the maximum scholarship amount.
• Program (AET/A&P/HVAC) Scholarships; funds will be distributed in equal disbursements for
each term within the program, not to exceed the maximum scholarship amount.
• President’s Scholarship; funds will be distributed equally up to the current tuition and fees
charged per academic term.
**President’s and Program Scholarship recipients are not eligible to receive both awards and Preparation
for Success Award. GEDs do not qualify.**
