Task 6
Introduction to the task
Review the information and profession map: https://www.cipd.co.uk/learn/career/profession-map
The CIPD Profession Map captures the knowledge and behaviours that HR and L&D professionals need to demonstrate in order to meet requirements for professional membership. The map defines the building blocks of effective people management practice across ten professional specialisms, and describes eight fundamental behaviours that underpin good practice regardless of specialism. The Map is flexible, so the HR professional can choose what to focus on depending on their area of work, the level of accountability they have in their role, and their career development ambitions.
Within the CIPD professional map there are eight behaviours that identify in detail how professionals need to carry out their activities and make a contribution to organisational success. Each behaviour is described at four bands of professional competence. Each behaviour has a series of contra-indicators, which illustrate the negative manifestations of the behaviour.
Activity 1
IN 600 words, choose one of the visiting Experts behaviours out of 8 behaviours that stands out as a strength and one behaviour that could be enhanced further. Collate evidence within the discussion and post questioning by viewing the definitions by clicking on the diagram and using this link. https://www.cipd.co.uk/learn/career/profession-map/behaviours
Guidance is to use 300 words for strength and 300 for further enhancement needed. You need to understand the definition of the 2 chosen behaviours and also the difference between the relevant bands of the two chosen behaviours. Then assess the external expert against the bands, using the definitions provided. An example could be they are brilliant at collaborative behaviour, yet be a weak role model.
An example of collaborative taken from the CIPD site can be seen here:-
