The Research Article Analysis (25%) is to be done alone, outside of class time, on the same research question that you and your fellow group members pursued in your Literature Review. Here, you’ll complete a piece of thinking and writing that naturally follows up on what you have learned in the Literature Review.

In this assignment, you will select a Canadian research article from a refereed journal, and then plan and compose a brief, well organized and well edited critique of the article’s argument. When complete, you will submit a copy of your Research Article Analysis to the Assignment Folder online and a hard copy to me in class. Early on in the course, we will spend one half of a class in the library lab being trained by a librarian in advanced techniques of performing searches for Canadian research articles from refereed journals.
- The assessment criteria for this assignment will measure the following characteristics of your Research Article Analysis:
- whether you have selected a research article on the same research question that you pursued with your group in your Literature Review
- whether the article you have selected, summarized, and analyzed is field-specific, Canadian, and taken from a refereed journal
- whether your Research Article Analysis reflects the instructions’ emphasis on thesis statement structure and effective editing and proofreading
- the accuracy and completeness of your use of A.P.A. documentation skills throughout
- the quality of your summary of the research article’s argument
- the quality of the extensive critical observations you generate on the research article’s argument
